I've been dabbling in making homemade cleaners since my first daughter was born almost 9 years ago. I like using cleaners made from natural ingredients, and I do love to be frugal when it comes to things like cleaning supplies. The recipe I am going to share today is one of my favorites and you probably have all the ingredients in your cabinets.

Simple All Purpose Cleaner

3/4 cup of white vinegar

1/2 cup rubbing alcohol

1/2 cup water

5-6 drops of dish soap

20-30 drops essential oil (see recommendations below)

Now for the hard part. Mix it all up and put it in a spray bottle. I bought this cute blue one at the dollar store, but you can reuse any old spray bottle. I like to get the small ones because I have two little helpers who love to clean- and by clean I mean soak every surface before wiping- with the spray bottle. This stuff is so cheap and quick to make it doesn't matter that they waste it.

You can leave out the alcohol and this is still a great cleaner. The alcohol just makes it work better on shiny surfaces where you might use window cleaner.

My favorite essential oil to use to scent this is lemon or lavender (or a combo of both). Some people love to use metaleuca because it gives it that mediciney scent of the cleaner mom used to use. Theives is a great and simple option for adding extra germ killing power. If you like the scent of commercial pine cleaners, add some spruce or fir. For a floral scent try some ylang ylang or ??? Whatever you use, you will love the way your house smells after cleaning.

Do you have a favorite scent for your cleaning products that I didn't mention here? I would love for you to comment below to share.

Oh, and I know you are all dying to know what the sign says behind the cleaner, right? Here is a close up. My Step Mom gave it to me for Christmas. She knows me all too well :)
